Let’s Kick Off 2020 With 10 Steps to Setting your Goals!

Knowing what your goals are can be more challenging than you may think. Perhaps this is why so many people don’t set them. You may have heard that most people don’t keep their New Years’ Resolutions, but did you know that most people don’t even MAKE ONE? So, imagine how few people make goals for the rest of the year — not many! So what does this mean for you? It means that you are in the very small minority that makes goals and is dedicated to achieving them.


Congratulations!


The first step to achieving your goal is knowing what it is — So, what is your goal? What do you want out of life? What are your TRUE desires? When’s the last time you asked yourself what YOU really want?


You have to look at yourself and ask if you match currently with what you want, and if the answer is not, you have to start to change a small thing right now to be capable of living the life that you want.


Start to look it at the whole year to put everything into perspective. You can already now by changing small things in your life that will bring you closer to your life goals.


Every goal needs to break it down years, months, weeks, and days.


The achieves goals process is going to change with the time, things come up or change, and it will change your list, so stay focus month to month and get ready to commit to following your monthly, weekly and daily tasks.


Don’t be to obsess with your plan, and keep in mind that a plan it’s just a plan; you cannot predict the future. And be okay if you cannot finish your To-do list of the week, make sure that you can add it on the next week.


Take action to get what you want!


So, now that you’ve considered the important question, it’s time to get your goals down on paper….



STEP 1: BEGIN 2020 WITH A FRESH AGENDA & PLANNER


Let’s kick off with your first and essential duty: Get an Agenda or Daily/Weekly Planner.


Why? Because it will help you to get the big picture of your project’s goals and tasks. It will help you in managing your time and improving your productivity. And most importantly, help you to provide stress relief and avoid to be overwhelmed.


STEP 2: WRITING YOUR GOALS ON PAPER


1. Define your goals


Write down as many things as you can think of that you’d like to do, achieve, experience or have in your life. You can include all areas of life, such as relationships, career, leisure, personal growth, financial, health, etc.


Put your goals into writing will be very beneficial in helping you to plan for your success.


2. Brainstorm


Once you have defined your goal, it is time to brainstorm on the tasks that are required to complete your goal. Write down at least 20 things. Then, arrange them in order of priority and what NEEDS to be done first before moving on to the other things


3. Identify 1 to 2 major goals for this year

Look at your priorities and identify 1 to 2 major goals that will make the biggest impact on your life.


STEP 3: CREATE A CONCRETE PLAN



Now, considering where you want to be in 1 year, think of all of the sub-goals you’ll need to accomplish to get you there.


1. Yearly goals


Break down the goal into approximately 12 milestones (January to December).

Prioritize the ones that are the most important and most immediately necessary. Identify which ones will need to be done FIRST.


2. Focus on 60 days plan


It’s time to create your short-term goals. Remember, plan tend to change after 60 days due to circumstances, changes, and your ideas and desires changing as you have new experiences.


Now, considering where you want to be in 1 year, think of all of the sub-goals you’ll need to accomplish to get you there.


1. Yearly goals

Break down the goal into approximately 12 milestones (January to December).

3. Schedule your weekly / Daily to-do-list

Schedule any tasks that are time-framed and assign other tasks to specific days of the week, when required. Keep the rest of your week’s list someplace easily accessible to refer to throughout the week when identifying daily goals.


STEP 4: GETTING PREPARED TO REACH OUT YOUR GOALS


1. You must program your mind for Success


To reach your goals, you must become who you need to be ready in order to live your dream. This is something most people don’t think about. They may be able to identify what they want in life, but they don’t consider what changes they would need to make — both in their life and within themselves — so that they would even be able to enjoy, experience, or do the thing they want when they get there.


Identifying these changes is a good way to help identify goals that you need to reach along the way to your greater dream. What are the physical, mental, and other characteristics that you need to develop WITHIN YOURSELF in order to be ready for these dreams when they come to you?


For example, would you need to be healthier, in better shape, more balanced, have more polished skills, new morning routine, positive environment...


2. Self-improvement


Identify what skills or abilities are needed and create a plan for improvement, whether it involves acquiring information, learning a process, or practicing a behavior with the following questions :


Does the goal you have set for yourself challenge you to learn and grow?

What knowledge or information needs to be acquired?

Do you see that there will be areas where you will need to learn new information or improve an ability or skill in order to accomplish this goal?

Do you recognize the importance of putting in the effort to develop in these areas to be successful? What behavior pattern needs to be improved?

Are you willing to commit to taking the steps necessary to learn and improve in these areas?

What skills, knowledge, thoughts, or behaviors are you already competent at that will help you develop these other areas or achieve your goal?




STEP 5: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF


Remember to achieve your goal; you need to believe in yourself!

Believe in yourself will drive you to get confidence and get the motivation necessary to accomplish small achievements, and step by step get you the bigger achievement.


Push yourself to achieve your goal.It’s not just about running to do it; you want an outcome, stay focus and be careful not to waste your time to do something without outcome, meaning just keeping your mind active, busy but no really productive.


STEP 6: PLANNING MEETS ACTION!


Every goal needs to be broken down into years, months, weeks, and days.


The process of achieving goals is going to change with time, things come up, or priorities change, and it will change your list. So stay focused month to month and get ready to commit to following your monthly, weekly, and daily tasks.


It is important to sit down 20 to 30 minutes every week to plan the coming weeks’ tasks.



STEP 7: START A NEW ROUTINE


Change your routines when you start new goals. This new routine will motivate you.


Change physical environment

Remove the TV in your room if your goal is to read before sleeping or studying. Close your phone during you are working if your goal is to stop to waste time on Facebook and Instagram.Change your physical environment to motive yourself to start a new life.


Change your social environment

Avoid location that triggers negative memories and emotions, and find the location to allow you to relax, to feed your passions, and keep you motived toward your goals.Consider the people in your life, around yourself with people can motivate. Eliminate or minimize people who discourage your dreams or may trigger your old habits or patterns.


Follow people in your social media that motivate you.



STEP 8: VISUALIZE YOURSELF BECOME THE PERSON YOU WANT TO BE


Visualization is a powerful tool to stay focus.

When you focus on something, you actually give to your mind a command. So your mind is looking for ways to extract that command that you gave it.


Choose to have a winning attitude and force your mind to see the positive opportunity in every experience, negative or positive. You owe it to yourself to become everything you have ever dreaming of being.





STEP 9: FIND ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNERS



Find at least 3 peoples in your life that you can use as accountability partners. It can be family, friends, co-workers, Facebook group that will help you to keep on challenging yourself and motivated you. You have to develop accountability partners that are going to give you the High-Fives, understand the processes that you are going through or check up on you.


The other part is to hold yourself accountable.You can have a reminder on your phone, in your house, or on your planner, in order to help you to stick to your to-do-list.




STEP 10: CELEBRATE YOURSELF


You have to learn to celebrate each small goal achieved because that lead you and keep you motivated.


A bucket list is a good idea to reward yourself:


You can use this bucket list as a reward a goal you’re working it; it a good way to recompense yourself with the thing that finally your dreams to do.



Remember, life is supposed to be enjoyed. It’s not about reaching your goal; it’s about the JOURNEY along the way and who you become because you’ve traversed it. This is your life, live it to the fullest!
